Simply Breathing

Sit in easy pose (legs crossed or straight out in front)
Ensure you are sitting in a balanced position with the hips neither slumped backwards or pushed to far forwards.

You may need to use a cushion under the buttocks if you feel as though the balance point is incorrect.
Imagine your vertebrae are stack evenly on top of each other in straight line, engaging the muscles in your trunk, imagining the muscles wrapping around and encasing the spine to help hold the position and give support.
Continue the straight line through the neck until you reach the top of the head (the tail bone preferably sits directly in line with the crown of the head).
Take in a long controlled cool crisp cleansing breath
Start by relaxing the muscle in the stomach and drawing the breath down in to the bottom of the diaphragm.
Follow the in hale up and underneath the rib cadge and then expand in to the chest fully (for a count of 4 or 6).

Retain the breath for a count of 1 or 2.

Maintain the body's position and drawn in the muscles of the stomach in towards the spine as to begin pusching the air back out.
Contract gently underneath the rig cadge and then relax the chest allowing the lungs to expel all the air. Try and perform this in a fluid move and not in distinct segments.
Try to release the breath slowly (a count of 4 or 6)

Inhale again in as above and repeat the cycle again. Repeat the whole cycle 5 times (you can work up to more over time).
Once finished sit still for a few moments to ensure that you do not feel light headed before you move again.
This basic breath will help improve oxygen consumption, clean and tone the lungs, focus and calms the mind/ body and encourage energy to freely flow through out the body.
